Fair Haven Public Schools is seeking a reliable Substitute Custodian on a per diem basis to cover custodial staff as needed and maintain a clean, safe school environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The role requires the ability to perform physically demanding custodial tasks, work independently, and interact professionally with others. Flexibility to respond to assignments and complete required background screenings is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or maintenance experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to perform physical duties associated with custodial work.
• Ability to work independently and follow directions.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to respond to substitute assignments as needed.
• Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and members of the public.
• Must successfully complete all required employment and background screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling.
• Clean and maintain restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of rooms and facilities for school activities and events.
• Report maintenance, safety, or facility concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow established safety procedures and use cleaning products and equipment properly.
• Perform other custodial duties as assigned by the Head Custodian or Supervisor.

The Substitute Custodian will provide coverage for custodial staff as needed and help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly school environment for students, staff, and visitors.
