Job summary

Hospital for Behavioral Medicine in Worcester, MA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Intake for a per diem role. You will assess admitted patients, take physician orders, perform medication reconciliation, and coordinate with the care team across age groups.

Strong clinical and independent work skills are required. Qualified candidates have an accredited RN education, Massachusetts licensure, 3+ years in psychiatric care, and certification in medication administration and CPR.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited RN program; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice by the Massachusetts State Board of Nursing.
• A minimum of three (3) years experience in a psychiatric facility preferred.
• Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications.
• CPR certification and successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior within 30 days, and prior to restraining procedures.
• Working knowledge of DSM-X, Mental Status Exam, and Addiction/Recovery field.

Responsibilities

• Complete the Nursing Assessment documenting patient information, medications, medical history, vital signs, and skin assessment.
• Work with children, adolescents, adults, and senior populations.
• Familiar with diagnoses and assessment/interviewing skills for each population.
• Call physician for admission and medication orders; complete Medication Reconciliation.
• Report signs of infection or illness to physician after assessment.
• Document patient information and nursing care in the patient record.
• Reassess significant changes in patient condition per policy.
• Assist in walking patient to unit and giving report to the unit nurse.
