Job summary

The Ranch at Dove Tree in Lubbock, Texas is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) to provide and coordinate nursing care for clients in a behavioral health and addiction recovery setting. You will supervise care by LPNs and CNAs, develop and implement care plans, assess and reassess clients, and communicate with the interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved/accredited school of nursing.
• One or more years' nursing experience within clinical area of service preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health/psychiatric/addiction recovery environment preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures.
• Ability to apply nursing standards and practice within an acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates care by assessing physical and behavioral health needs of client, develops and implements nursing care plans, maintains medical records and educates clients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions while ensuring client safety at all times.
• Assesses clients' status on an ongoing basis and communicates findings to the providers timely.
• Ensures nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs and initial treatment plan is completed upon admission.
• Obtains provider's orders accurately and documents appropriately; transcribes and reviews orders as required by policy.
• Accurately administers medications, per order, utilizing at least two client identifiers.
• Notifies providers of significant changes in status and changes in medical status regarding response to medications.
• Completes admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately as directed.
• Confers regularly with treatment team and attends unit activities as appropriate.
• Provides education to clients, families, and co-workers regarding medication usage and safety.
