Job summary

Yale New Haven Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care on a nursing unit. The role involves supervising non-RN staff, acting as charge nurse, and coordinating care across the healthcare team.

The ideal candidate holds a Connecticut RN license, BSN preferred, and demonstrates proficiency with electronic health records and patient education. Orthopedic care skills and safety focus are valued. On-site nursing position.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Valid State Of Connecticut Registered Nurse License.
• BLS Certification Required.
• Proficient in use of computer software including Electronic Patient Records.
• Experience or ability to work with Orthopedic patient care protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical and psychosocial condition continually.
• Develop, communicate and document individualized care plans with patient and family.
• Coordinate and implement care plans with the healthcare team.
• Supervise non-RN personnel on the unit and act as charge nurse when needed.
• Ensure a safe environment and meet performance expectations for patient care.
• Assist with education for patients and families post-discharge.

• 18. Demonstrates Knowledge And Understanding Of Exercise (E.G. Gluteal, Straight Leg Raising Sling Exercises) In Assisting Patient Recovery.
• 19. Implements Skin Care Protocol And Demonstrates Skill In Occlusive Dressing Application, Maintenance And Documentation.
• 20. Demonstrates Knowledge And Skill In Assisting Physician With Special Orthopedic Procedures (E.G. Joint Aspiration/Injection, Steinman Pin Insertion).
