Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health in Connecticut is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Med/Surg unit. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, supervise non-RN personnel, and act as charge nurse as needed, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes.

The role requires a CT RN license, BLS/ACLS within six months, and preferred BSN with 2 years Med/Surg experience. Proficiency with electronic patient records is expected, with opportunities for professional mentorship and leadership

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Two years Med/Surg experience preferred.
  • Valid State Of Connecticut Registered Nurse License
  • BLS And ACLS Required Within Six Months Of Hire.
  • Proficient In Use Of Computer Software To Include Electronic Patient Records.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patient''s physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
  • Develops, communicates and documents a plan of care reflecting patient problems and interventions with family and healthcare team.”
  • Implements and coordinates the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care, patient''s response to care, and readiness for discharge; revises as needed.
  • Provides education after assessing learning needs and readiness of patient and family.
  • Functions as a preceptor to new staff.
  • Functions as a charge nurse.
  • Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of standards of care for critically ill patients.
  • Demonstrates skill with arterial lines, central venous lines, Swan-Ganz catheters and cardiac output.
  • Demonstrates skill in arrhythmia interpretation and interventions.
  • Demonstrates protocols for care of patients with intracranial monitoring devices and venticulostomy.
  • Demonstrates care of ventilated patients and those on IV therapy in critical care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of perioperative and post-anesthesia care protocols.

Works Under The Supervision Of The Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. The Registered Nurse (Rn) Assesses, Plans, Implements, Evaluates And Supervises Individual Patient Care On A Nursing Unit/Department According To Unit Policies And Procedures.   • 15.Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated With Defibrillation, Cardioversion And The Care Of Patients Utilizing External And Temporary Pacemakers.
  • 16.Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated With The Care Of Patients Needing Peritoneal Dialysis.
  • 17.Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated With The Care Of Patients Needing Conscious Sedation.
  • 18.Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated In The Post Anesthesia Recovery Of Patients.
  • 19.Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge Of Procedures And Protocols Associated In The Initiating And Maintaining Intravenous Therapy Of Critical Care Patients.
Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduate Of An Accredited School Of Nursing; Bsn Preferred. Proficient In Use Of Computer Software To Include Electronic Patient Records. Must Have Ability To Use Internet For Literature Searches Regarding Care For Patients.

EXPERIENCE

Two Years Med/Surg Experience Preferred

LICENSURE
