Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a per diem Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our care teams. You will examine patients with breathing-related conditions, consult with physicians, and implement treatment plans while delivering therapies and teaching patients proper medication use.

Applicants should have an active state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist, an RRT credential, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Must have Respiratory Therapist licensure to practice in the state.
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Three or more years of experience in cardiopulmonary services.
• Strong critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Examines patients with breathing-related conditions and conducts diagnostic testing.
• Consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient.
• Performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications.
• Measures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care.
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
