Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist on a per diem basis to evaluate cardiopulmonary status, perform respiratory therapies, and educate patients and families. The role requires NBRC registry, NYS license, and completion of a CoARC-accredited program.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team in a major teaching hospital setting, supporting quality patient care and adhering to department protocols and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Maintain compliance with department protocols and safety standards.
• Coordinate patient care with the respiratory team.

Responsibilities

• Review patient records and orders, including history, exams, PFT values, ABG results, and labs.
• Set up and maintain respiratory equipment.
• Attend department meetings and in-services.
• Assess patients to monitor therapy effects and document findings.
• Perform prescribed therapies to achieve adequate oxygenation.
• Maintain airway and humidification as required.
• Obtain and analyze ABGs per policy.
• Follow weaning and ventilator monitoring protocols.
• Assemble and check ventilators and related devices.
