Job summary

Housing Works is seeking a Residential Aide to oversee the wellbeing and safety of clients and staff across shifts, including 8am–4pm, 4pm–12am, and 12am–8am, seven days a week in our New York residence facilities.

The role involves crisis intervention, confidentiality, and collaboration with clinical staff. Responsibilities include screenings, shift reports, and liaising with management, while benefiting from healthcare plans, PTO, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of work experience.
  • Certificate of Fitness (S-95) to be obtained within eighty (80) days of employment.
  • Annual compliance training to be completed in 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and multi-task.
  • Work with the homeless population.
  • Use PPE provided by Housing Works during shifts when required.
  • Provide excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of management (verbal and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Write and submit Shift Reports at the end of every shift.
  • Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs.
  • Screen visitors, staff, and clients per Housing Works’ requirements.
  • Ensure safety, security and integrity of residents and the facility.

Job description

Benefits:

We have three comprehensive healthcare plans to choose from based on your priorities and budget. Housing Works covers most of the plan; you pay a portion, based on your salary. Overview:

The Residential Aide (RA) ensures the wellbeing and safety of the program’s clients and staff during their shifts. The RA provides crisis intervention as needed to maintain residential safety and security. The RA works in shifts from 8am to 4pm, 4pm to 12am, 12am-8am (give-or-take one hour based on the residence to which they are assigned). An RA may also work 12am-12pm, or 12:00pm-12:00am. The schedule operates 7 days a week, and all holidays as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work with the homeless population.
  • Must possess a Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fire-Alarm Systems (S-95) within eighty (80) days of employment.
  • Must complete annual compliance training in 30 days.
  • Must use PPE provided by Housing Works during shift when required by Housing Works Policies and Procedures

  • Good communication skills both verbally and written including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.

  • Ensure the safety, security and integrity of all residents and guests, as well as the physical environment of the facility.
  • Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs.
  • Always provide excellent customer service and confidentiality.
  • Communicate with the clinical staff on resident behavior as well as the care of those on the fragile list.
  • Provide screenings for all visitors, staff, and clients who enter subject to Housing Works’ requirements.
  • Write and submit Shift Reports at the end of every shift
Requirements:
  • At least one year of work experience.
