Job summary

Lowell General Hospital, part of Tufts Medicine, seeks an experienced RN for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on a per diem basis. The unit features telemetry, close monitoring, and IV therapies on a 36-bed floor.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1–2 years in hospital setting is preferred.
• Current RN license in MA in good standing.
• ASN required; BSN preferred.
• BLS required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care on a 36-bed PCU telemetry unit with close monitoring.
• Monitor patients on high-flow oxygen, IV medications, and cardiac telemetry.
• Maintain safe nurse–patient ratios and ensure patient safety.

Unit Summary:

The PCU isa 36-bed unit for telemetry, step-down, or intermediate level of care. Patients requiring peritoneal and hemodialysis, cardiac catheterizations, pacemakers, internal cardiac defibrillator placement, postoperative monitoring, andinterventional radiology may be placed in the PCU. Our patients receive continuous cardiac monitoring, and some may also receive continuous oxygen saturation monitoring. Patients can be on high-flow oxygen, Bi-pap ventilation, and continuous cardiac Intravenous medications. The nurse-patient ratio is less than on the med/surg floors, allowing patients to be more closely monitored.
