Requirements include 2+ years NICU experience, NJ RN license, NRP and BLS certifications. BSN preferred, with EPIC EMR experience highly valued.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years NICU RN experience in an acute care setting.
• Active New Jersey RN license in good standing.
• NRP certification.
• BLS certification.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing strongly preferred; IV certification from an approved facility is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify clinical changes.
• Administer safe, evidence-based medications and treatments.
• Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers for timely care decisions.

Job Overview

At Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Registered Nurses become part of a 56 bed Level III NICU with an amazing team of knowledgeable nurses who provide care for very low birth weight and full-term infants. A strong multidisciplinary approach to QI, a strong family advisory council, and a very active unit-based practice council plus unit-based committees. The unit presents as a Team Daisy and Infection Control award recipient. As a Registered Nurse, you will help advance patient care and strengthen the experience of individuals and families across our organization. As a Neonatal ICU Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognizing subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must have at least 2 years or more of NICU RN experience in an acute care setting. Additionally, you must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing, hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing, a NRP certification, and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. A bachelor’s degree in nursing and I.V. certification from an approved facility is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. This position offers a per diem schedule: Two (2) – 12.5-hour shifts per month (both shifts on weekend), One (1) – 12.5 hour Summer Holiday (Easter, July 4th, Labor Day), One (1) – 12.5 hour Winter Holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s), allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
