Job summary

Atlantic Eye is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse to join Atlantic Surgery Center in Eatontown, NJ. The RN will provide pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care in a state-of-the-art outpatient setting, delivering compassionate patient-focused care across ophthalmic and related procedures.

Qualifications

• Active NJ nursing license is required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• IV skills are required.
• Ophthalmic surgical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care across pre-operative, circulating, and post-operative (PACU) phases of ophthalmic, oculoplastic, and corneal procedures.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-op assessments, verifying surgical site and documentation, and administering medications.
• Serve as a circulating nurse during procedures, maintaining sterile fields and assisting the surgeon.
• Monitor and manage postoperative recovery and provide discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate EMR and ensure HIPAA, infection control, and ASC regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and staff to ensure efficient patient flow and room turnover.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care across pre-operative, circulating, and post-operative (PACU) phases of ophthalmic, oculoplastic, and corneal surgical procedures.


• Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-op assessments, verifying surgical site and documentation, and administering prescribed medications.


• Serve as a circulating nurse during surgical procedures, maintaining sterile fields, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring patient safety.


• Monitor and manage patient recovery post-surgery, providing post-operative instructions to patients and their escorts.


• Maintain accurate electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure strict adherence to HIPAA, infection control, and ASC regulatory standards.


• Collaborate seamlessly with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinical staff to ensure efficient, high-quality patient flow and room turnover.

Facility Description

The award-winning Atlantic Surgery Center (ASC) is a busy single-operating room (OR) outpatient Ambulatory Surgical Center specializing in ophthalmic procedures, including cataract, corneal, and oculoplastic surgery. Due to continued growth, the center is expanding to a two-OR facility within the next year.

Education/Experience Requirements

• Active NJ Nursing License.


• BLS, ACLS.


• IV skillset.


• Ophthalmic surgical experience preferred.
