Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program.
• Six months Radiation Oncology Therapy experience or equivalent clinical experience obtained through completion of a Radiation Therapy Program.
• Trained in equipment maintenance.
• General understanding of Physics, Anatomy and Physiology.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administers ionizing radiation therapy according to prescription and instruction of the radiation oncologist.
• Verifies informed consent and patient identification; checks calculations prior to treatment.
• Ensures accurate positioning and patient comfort; maintains patient contact during treatment.
• Delivers prescribed treatment with supervision as needed; prepares treatment room and transfers patient safely.
• Maintains skin markings and uses tattoo techniques where required; observes reactions and reports to Radiation Oncologist or Nurse.
• Monitors radiation safety measures for patients and staff; assists in QA checks on treatment equipment.
• Assists in tumor localization and immobilization device preparation; supports dosimetry procedures.
• Maintains department records and treatment charts; supports orientation of new staff; provides technical direction as needed.
