Job summary

Orlando Ophthalmology Surgery Center in Orlando, FL is seeking a Preoperative PACU Registered Nurse on a per diem basis to join our outpatient team. The PACU RN provides care for patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring safety, comfort and privacy throughout the recovery period.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited RN program, active RN license in the state, BLS and ACLS, with 2 years PACU or critical care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing.
• Active RN license in the state.
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS if required by the center.
• 2 years experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred.
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet patient needs.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuity and quality nursing care for patients emerging from general anesthesia or sedation.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient and family care in preparation for discharge.
• May assist physicians in procedure rooms with tasks, conscious sedation, and sterile techniques as appropriate.
