Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Physical Therapy Assistant. The PTA, under supervision, performs designated skilled and routine tasks related to Physical Therapy services, assisting the Physical Therapist with patient activities per the plan of care.

The role collaborates with rehab staff and other hospital personnel to deliver quality care. It also involves participation in CQI activities, infection control, equipment training, safety programs, and monitoring budget guidelines

Qualifications

• Graduate of a School of Physical Therapy Assistants or equivalent approved by the APTA Accreditation Board.
• Successful completion of West Virginia State Board Examination.
• Current state of West Virginia license or Temporary license; maintain licensure requirements.
• Current membership in the APTA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Physical Therapist with patient-related activities per the plan of care.
• Work in collaboration with physicians, rehab staff and hospital personnel and with patients and families.
• Participate in performance improvement activities within the department (CQI).
• Assist with infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs.
• Assist with monitoring budget guidelines and ensure patient charges are accurate and completed in a timely basis.
