Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a Phlebotomy; Medical Laboratory; or Medical Assistant program that includes phlebotomy preferred.
• Familiar with medical terminology; computer data entry; organizational skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy duties including specimen collection, receiving, and referrals.
• Maintains collection areas and supplies; ensures neat, sanitary conditions.
• Operates laboratory computer system to document specimen information and orders.
• Ensures specimen integrity and proper handling for referrals to outside labs.
• Interacts with customers, patients, families, nurses, and physicians to ensure quality service.
• Complies with CAP, JCAHO, OSHA and privacy/security standards; on-call duties as needed.
