Job summary

ProMedica Defiance Regional Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for patients before, during and after collection in the Laboratory.

This per diem, variable-shift role requires completion of a phlebotomy training program or documented experience, a high school diploma, ability to differentiate colors, and about one year of experience; professional registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or documented phlebotomy experience (e.g., venipunctures, puncture techniques, blood draws).
• Must be able to differentiate colors.
• 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for the patient.
• Perform pre-analytic tasks for sample preparation (centrifugation, decanting, distribution, packaging).
• Use QA data to improve services and address quality issues.
• Follow asepsis/antisepsis principles and help train new associates or students.
