Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem CHC Outpatient Pharmacy Technician to prepare and distribute medications, operate automated systems, and maintain inventory and records. You will assist in training staff under supervision, and support patient services with strong customer focus.

Key responsibilities include medication preparation, double-check processes, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with laws and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern with the MA Board of Pharmacy by the hire date (Pharmacy Interns are not required to hold CPhT certification).
• Must also have national certification from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam of Certified Pharmacy Techs (exCPT), or within 6 months from start date.
• Requires 2-3 years' experience with at least one year pharmacy related experience. 3+ years' of experience preferred. Pharmacy students who have completed 2 years of education in an approved college/school of pharmacy are eligible for pharmacy internship, and may be waived for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Preparing product for use, including packaging, repacking, compounding, bar-coding, or any other manipulation.
• Performing medication preparation in accordance with law, regulation, accreditation standards, and hospital policy or procedure, including participating in a double check system for all preparation.
• Provides assistance with inventory control (receiving, stocking, replenishment) including: Receiving product (e.g. from wholesalers, direct shipments etc.) and stocking the product in accordance with laws and regulations for storage of product and in accordance with hospital policy.
• Communicates to pharmacists and/or pharmacy technician supervisor on malfunctioning equipment and unsafe working conditions
• Providing the highest level of customer service, including answering the telephone, greeting customers and guests in person and in any other interaction.
• Attends and participates in hospital and other management training and development workshops.
