Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a per diem Registered Pharmacist to perform all duties of a pharmacist with minimal supervision in a Bronx hospital setting. Responsibilities include dispensing medications, reviewing orders for accuracy, and ensuring age-appropriate pharmacotherapy.

The role requires NYS license, PharmD/BS, and hospital experience. The position offers per diem hours (8:30 AM–4:30 PM) with a scheduled 7.5-hour day and an hourly rate of $80.00.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy (BS or Doctor of Pharmacy).
• PharmD or MS degree and/or completion of Pharmacy Residency Program may be used as a substitute for some experience.
• Valid NYS Pharmacist license and registration.
• Minimum of three years’ experience as a pharmacist in hospital setting or completion of Pharmacy residency.
• Maintains professional competence through continuing education (15 credits/year).

Responsibilities

• Prepares and dispenses all types of medications using standard pharmacy practices for unit dose distribution, ambulatory services and compounding.
• Reviews medication orders for accuracy, completeness and therapeutic appropriateness.
• Addresses neonates, pediatrics, adolescents and geriatrics as needed; interprets data for age-specific dosing.
• Monitors effectiveness of drug therapy and documents results.
• Participates in multidisciplinary rounds to discuss drug-related issues.
• Provides drug information to physicians and other health care providers, patients or families.
• Performs detailed inspections of medication storage areas in accordance with hospital procedures.
• Trains and orientates pharmacy interns and residents; supervises pharmacy personnel.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and departmental committees.
