Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Science as a Pathology Assistant.
• Two years experience as a Pathologist's Assistant preferred.
• Pathology Assistant training/certification.
• NYS license required within six months of hire.
• Understanding and basic principles of pathology to assess specimen acceptability.

Responsibilities

• Grossly describe surgical pathology specimens for routine histology.
• Describe gross description after transcription and take gross photos as required.
• Gross, cut and stain frozen sections for rapid diagnosis.
• Develop new procedures for immunohistochemical stains in collaboration with Pathology Manager.
• Maintain equipment in grossing room (Cryostat and Grossing Station) and perform specimen accessioning.
