Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a per diem Occupational Therapist to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care across inpatient and/or outpatient settings. You will evaluate functional abilities, develop treatment plans, and implement interventions that promote independence in daily living, work, and self-care.

You’ll document in the EHR and contribute to quality improvement while educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or eligibility to obtain prior to start.
• NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) preferred or required.
• BLS certification for healthcare providers.
• Experience in acute care, inpatient rehab, or outpatient settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients’ functional abilities and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to improve daily living, work, and self-care skills.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams on coordinated care plans.
• Educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, equipment use, and home programs.
• Document assessments, treatment progress, and outcomes in the electronic health record.
• Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and clinical education initiatives.
• Contribute to discharge planning and safe transitions of care across settings.
• Occupational therapy evaluation and treatment planning.
• Knowledge of ADL and IADL retraining techniques.
• Neuromuscular and orthopedic rehabilitation interventions.
• Use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology.
• Electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
• Interdisciplinary care coordination and communication.
• Patient and family education.
• Evidence-based practice and outcome measurement.
• Time management and caseload prioritization.
• Understanding of regulatory and documentation standards in healthcare.
