Qualifications

• CA RN license required.
• BLS preferred; National certification in Oncology Nursing preferred.
• BSN or MSN or enrolled in RN-BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Mixes chemotherapy accurately as prescribed by physician after competency test.
• Administers chemotherapy in accordance with Oncology Nursing Society standards.
• Verifies dosage, authorization, and insurance approvals prior to administration.
• Educates patient and family on chemotherapy, side effects, symptom management, and community resources.
• Provides telephone triage for patients and families in a courteous, professional manner.
• Documents patient charges and credits in billing systems as instructed.
• Inspects and documents medication inventory per procedures.
• Maintains competency with venous access devices and CBC testing.
• Participates in quality improvement activities as assigned.
• Documents orientation and training related to blood sampling for staff.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
