Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a Nursing Companion for per diem night shifts at NYP Weill Cornell. You will support patients with daily tasks, hygiene, mobility, and comfort under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The role emphasizes teamwork, communication with the care team, and maintaining patient privacy. Ideal candidates are BSN students with clinical rotations, available for at least one shift per week, and CPR-certified.

Qualifications

• Completed at least one clinical rotation and one semester of a clinical assignment while pursuing BSN.
• Current CPR from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to provide comfort and compassionate patient care under RN supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily hygiene, bed making, and safety precautions.
• Provide compassionate patient-focused care and observe patient conditions.
• Communicate observations to RNs and protect patient privacy at all times.
• Support patients with mealtime prep, transport, and comforting interactions.

Nursing Companion - Per Diem -Nights

At New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, nursing students thrive at the bedside as invaluable care providers. Together, we serve as critical points of contact for patients and their families. Join our team. Be a true partner with Nurses. Provide comfort and caring as a Nursing Companion at NYP.

Provide compassionate patient focus and perform select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse. Assist with routine tasks including daily hygiene, bed making, and safety precautions. Build strong rapport with patients and families, and communicate your observations with RNs while maintaining patient privacy at all times. Infuse energy and hospitality into each patient's day. Prepare patients for mealtime, assist with transport, and report any patient concerns to your partners on the care‑giving team. Demonstrate what it means to be part of a team and raise the bar for patient care.

This is a per diem night flex nursing companion position- 1 shift per week requirement after orientation

Preferred Criteria

• Ideal candidates will be enrolled in a BSN program with an expected graduation of December 2027 or later and completed at least one clinical rotation

Required Criteria

• Qualified candidates have completed at least one clinical rotation and one semester of a clinical assignment in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
• At least one shift per week is required.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Current CPR Training from the American Heart Association required.
