Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a per diem Oncology RN to support cancer center patients in the outpatient setting. The role emphasizes high-quality nursing care, telephone triage, and coordination with advanced practice providers and oncologists.

The RN will conduct initial evaluations, develop and adjust care plans, educate patients and families, and document plans in EPIC while collaborating with the care team to ensure safe, effective cancer care in Concord/MA.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Massachusetts
  • BSN required
  • 3-5 years oncology nursing experience required
  • Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy/Biotherapy required
  • OCN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Chemo/Bio/Immunotherapy
  • Assists with daily telephone triage
  • Assist in triage of medical urgencies/emergencies to NP or MD
  • Assists in the coordination of infusions and injections as needed
  • Assesses psychosocial needs of patients and families, communicates with social service for follow up
  • Assists patients with Advanced Directives Communication and documentation
  • Provides ongoing patient management via telephone (prescriptions, teaching, symptom management)
  • Attends and participates in team meetings as required
  • Documents relevant patient information and current plan in EPIC
  • Collaborates with practice staff (RN, research, APP, MD, Admin, and MA/PCA teams) as appropriate.

The principal responsibility for the ONCOLOGY nurse in the Cancer Center is to provide improved clinical care with a primary focus on many of the increasingly complex care issues of the cancer center patients and the timely triage of clinical issues to advanced practice providers and medical oncologists working in the outpatient setting.

The primary focus of the nurse will be to provide indirect patient care to oncology patients in the practice setting including but not limited to the initial nursing evaluation, development and ongoing implementation of care plan, education and counseling of patients and families.

The nurse will be available to assist with patients, care givers or family members primary over telephone and via EPIC inbasket. The nurse will practice according to ANA and ONS standards of care. - Comprehensive cancer care in Concord, MA.

Specific Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provides ongoing patient management via telephone (prescriptions, teaching, symptom management)
  • Attends and participates in team meetings as required
  • Documents relevant patient information and current plan in EPIC

Qualifications
