Boston Children's Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant to join the PreOp Clinic on a per diem basis. The role emphasizes care coordination, patient assessments, and preparation for anesthesia and surgery.

Shifts are 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with a focus on delivering family-centered care in collaboration with the perioperative team.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) or a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies.
• 3 years of PNP/FNP or PA experience in acute care, inpatient Medical-Surgical care or Primary Care preferred.
• Massachusetts licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse PNP or FNP or Physician Assistant.
• Pediatric experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing care coordination in partnership with physicians as an integral member of the Perioperative Services Team.
• Performing histories and physical examinations on infants, children and adults with simple to complex clinical and care coordination needs.
• Synthesizing clinical data.
• Communicating critical information to interdisciplinary care team.
• Providing pre-operative education to patients and families.
• Diagnosing and prescribing for common illnesses affecting procedural readiness. Working collaboratively with primary care physicians/specialists, when necessary, to medically optimize for anesthesia/surgery.
• Provide family-centered care as a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides expert care.
• Shift times will be 8-hour day shifts, Monday-Friday.

Minimum Qualifications Education:

• A Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) or a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies

Experience:

• 3 years of PNP/FNP or PA experience in acute care, inpatient Medical-Surgical care or Primary Care preferred.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• Proficiency in navigating the patient medical record in its entirety

Licensure/ Certifications:

• MA licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse PNP or FNP or Physician Assistant
