Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is seeking a Per Diem Nuclear Medicine Technologist for outpatient cardiology in Mineola, NY. Under supervision, you perform radionuclide procedures and operate gamma cameras and related equipment to produce diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.

Responsibilities include calibrations, quality control, safety, and patient care. A Nuclear Medicine license and ARRT/NMTCB certification are required; strong communication and computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma; approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
• Associate's Degree Nuclear Medicine Technology program or related health field (for hires after Aug 1, 2016).
• NYS license in Nuclear Medicine; ARRT or NMTCB certification.

Responsibilities

• Operates Nuclear Medicine equipment (gamma cameras, uptake probe, dose calibrator, Geiger counter) and produces diagnostic images.
• Performs calibrations and Quality Control; maintains records and logs; ensures proper disposal of radioactive waste.
• Ensures radiation safety and infection control; attends annual in-services and documents compliance.
• Enters exam codes into Radiology Information System (Carestream); ensures timely exam completion.
• Instructs and supervises Nuclear Medicine students in clinical practice.
