Job summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital is seeking a Per Diem MSW Social Worker to conduct psychosocial assessments, provide counseling, and assist with discharge planning under supervision. The role includes education for patients and families and clinical supervision of social work interns.

The candidate must have a Master's in Social Work, LMSW licensure or NYS permit, and training in child-abuse reporting; hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in social work, or its equivalent, including licensure qualifying program as registered by the Department.
• Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) licensure or NYS permit.
• Must complete coursework/training in identification and reporting of child abuse per Education Law.

Responsibilities

• Performs psychosocial assessments and evaluations, develops social work treatment plans, and coordinates discharge planning.
• Provides information and education to patients and families pertinent to patient needs and discharge plan.
• Documents all social work activities timely in patient records and HIS/outpatient systems.
