What do we do?

CHSI is a private, non-profit organization established in 1973 to serve the health needs of migrant & seasonal farm workers and their family members. Today, CHSI has expanded its services and provides mental & physical healthcare to all individuals in our communities. Our services are provided on a more affordable sliding fee scale to those who are underinsured or uninsured. We also accept ND and MN Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurance plans. We currently operate four nurse‑managed clinics, and two victim advocacy program centers.

Who are we looking for?

We are searching for a Per diem Mobile Health Dental Assistant to join our Rochester, MN team. This is a per diem position with a flexible schedule based on mobile health operations and community need. Work is performed exclusively in mobile unit and community‑based settings. Hours may include daytime mobile clinic coverage, outreach activities, and occasional evening, after‑hours, and weekend events as needed.

Duties

• Participates in mobile health missions and community‑based outreach activities on an as‑needed basis to support the communities served by Community Health Service Inc.
• Sterilize instruments according to regulations
• Provides patients with oral hygiene education and post‑procedure care instructions in mobile and community‑based settings.
• Undertake lab tasks as instructed
• Provide oral hygiene and post‑operative care instructions
• Keep the dental room clean and well‑stocked
• Manage inventory and ordering of supplies
• Supports patient flow, registration, and care coordination during mobile dental clinic operations and outreach events.
• Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures
• Proven experience as dental assistant
• Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
• Experience using Eagle soft is preferred but not required
• Good computer skills
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Attention to detail
• Well‑organized and reliable

Physical Abilities

• In an eight hour workday, the employee must be able to: bend and crouch occasionally, sit continuously and stand or walk frequently.
• Employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Employee must be able to use hands/arms, feet/legs for repetitive fine to large motor skill movements.

Qualifications

• Certified in MN or graduating from dental assistant school is preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Certification for other duties as required by the state practice act
• Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, and Infection Control training as required by law
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Versed in Eagle Soft is highly preferred
• Strong multi‑tasking and organizational skills
• Ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment
• Knowledge of all company policies and rules
