Job summary

Northwell Health in Norwalk, CT seeks a Medical Assistant/Secretary for a Per Diem schedule to support clinical and clerical operations. Flexible 8-hour shifts 8:30am–5:00pm, Monday–Friday, with coverage for callouts and time off.

Ideal candidates include new graduates of MA programs or experienced MAs/ CNAs/EMTs. Responsibilities include intake, vital signs, EMR documentation, chart preparation, and basic in-office testing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of Medical Assistant program or Nursing Assistant/EMT training, or 3 years’ medical office experience.
• Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
• Skilled at obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
• CPR certification preferred; bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients; obtain intake information, vital signs and medications.
• Transcribe and update patient information in the EMR; document history as reported.
• Perform clerical tasks; prepare patient charts and collect paperwork.
• Maintain EMR orders reconciliation and stock examination area.
• Prepare patients for visits; provide supplies and educational materials.
• Coordinate in-office testing and outside services as applicable.
• Collect and process specimens; ensure results are logged in patient records.
• Maintain inventory and equipment; support audits and compliance.
