Job summary

Planned Parenthood North Central States in Des Moines, IA is hiring a Per Diem Medical Assistant (MA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our health center. Compensation is hourly and varies by MA or LPN role, with a per diem schedule of 32 hours per month and clinic hours Mon-Fri 9:00-7:00, Sat 9:00-5:00. Location: 2304 University Ave, Des Moines, IA 50311.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting diploma program, or Associate degree in Medical Assisting, or current EMT/Paramedic licensure, or 6+ months experience as a Health Center Associate II at PPNCS.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) Certificate for healthcare providers
• High School diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Interview and screen patients, document in electronic medical record, prepare patients for examinations/procedures.
• Perform routine laboratory tests including venipuncture and communicate results.
• Provide factual patient education on FDA approved birth control methods and options.
• Refer patients per protocol and ensure complete documentation of care plans.
• Assist clinicians with procedures and manage patient safety and emergencies per protocols.
