Job summary

Kaweah Health is seeking a Language Resource Assistant interpreter to provide Spanish-language interpretation for patients, families, and staff across Kaweah Health facilities. Testing

Required: Successful completion of the Language Resource Assistant (LRA) testing at a clinical level, administered during the interview.

Experience Requirements

• One year of interpretation experience or enrollment in an interpreter training program.

Preferred Experience

• One year of healthcare experience with a major emphasis on customer service, performance improvement, training, or educating others.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Computer skills.
• Customer service and crisis training strongly recommended.
• Excellent communication, tact, stress‑management skills, and the ability to relate well with diverse personalities and cultures.

Responsibilities

• Provide system‑wide foreign‑language interpreting (verbal) for patients/families with limited English proficiency and Kaweah Health providers and staff.
• Adhere to interpreter standards of practice and code of ethics.
• Document required information and data accurately and promptly.
• Support the Interpreter Services program by working constructively in a team, participating in program functions, and performing other programmatic tasks as requested by the program manager.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with Kaweah Health policies.
• Recognize and respond quickly to emergency situations.
• Greet the public and provide information as requested; give clear instructions and demonstrate knowledge of all services and location.
• Use computer systems effectively.
• Coordinate customer service initiatives to ensure satisfaction through prospective, concurrent, and retrospective methods.
• Facilitate resolution of patient and customer complaints in accordance with Kaweah Health policy.

Additional Responsibilities for LAHU Interpreter (if assigned)

• Interpret over the phone as needed.
• Translate documents from English to Lahu.
• Track and maintain language statistics and develop interpretation devices usage reports.
• Enter Language Resource Assistant interpretation logs into the department database.
• Maintain the Language Resource Assistant intranet site.
• Occasionally enter interpretation requests to create the daily schedule.
• Track departmental invoices and create reports.

Pay Range

$21.61 – $32.42 per hour.
