Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a Surgical Technician on a per diem basis for Melrose Wakefield Hospital. Under RN guidance, you support surgical care of patients and assist the physician with scrub responsibilities during procedures.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, Surgical Tech certification, and BLS; two years OR experience is preferred. Per diem schedule may include on-call coverage and varied shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Surgical Technician certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• Two years of Operating Room experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in set-up for specific surgical procedures and maintain physician preference cards.
• Prepare case carts with instruments and equipment for next day cases.
• Act as scrub person during procedures, maintain sterile field and assist with instrument passing.
• Perform technical tasks beyond cutting and suturing; assist with equipment and supplies.
• Provide on-call coverage as required by the Department.
• Attend staff meetings and related in-services.
