Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Illinois is seeking a Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery to provide safe, evidence-based care for women, newborns and pediatric patients. The role involves supervision of LPNs and support staff, with 12-hour shifts and a weekend incentive package.

The nurse will perform initial assessments, develop care plans, and coordinate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes and smooth discharge planning. Per diem/PRN status applies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing is required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license; Illinois license if working in IL is required.
• American Heart Association BLS is required.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Proficient in English and strong mathematical & critical thinking abilities.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
• Identifies patient problems and develops an outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Implements the plan of care including procedures, treatments, and medications.
• Coordinates with Case Manager, Social Worker and other disciplines.
• Ensures discharge planning resources for newborn care and pediatric follow-up.
• Maintains clear and complete documentation and communication with physicians and team.
