Job summary

Northwell Health’s Norwalk Hospital Invasive Cardio Lab is seeking a Per Diem Cardiovascular Technologist to cover 8- and 10-hour shifts in the invasive suite, with on-call after hours, weekends, and holidays. The role supports cardiology procedures such as angioplasty, monitors hemodynamics, documents in EMR, and assists physicians with devices.

Requires associates degree, BLS, CT radiography licensure within 120 days, and ARRT CE maintenance.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and BLS certification.
• Graduate of approved school of Radiologic Technology.
• CT Radiographer licensure required within 120 days of graduation.
• Maintain CE credits for ARRT and Connecticut License.
• Experience in endovascular, interventional and diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to staff by scrubbing and using sterile technique in invasive cardiovascular procedures.
• Monitors hemodynamic status and ECG; records data and generates a procedure report.
• Obtains medical history pre-procedure, reviews labs, educates patient/family, and obtains consent.
• Prepares cath lab; calibrates and performs QA checks on radiographic and hemodynamic equipment.
• Preps and positions patient; connects monitoring devices and documents in EMR.
• Assists cardiologist with arterial closure devices; manages sheath removal and hemostasis.
• Serves as a resource for troubleshooting equipment and supplies.
• Collects data for ACC-NCDR and Connecticut Registry databases.
• Participates in inventory, QI, transport, and schedule duties; initiates IV therapy.
• Responsible for on-call per monthly schedule for emergency procedures.
• Meets quality, service, teamwork, self-development, and community goals.
• Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
