Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Cook to support daily cafe and patient meals. You will retrieve, prep, and prepare items per production sheets and recipes, while following HACCP and safety guidelines.

The role requires prior healthcare food service experience, ability to read recipes, and basic math. ServSafe certification is encouraged. Shifts vary with per diem status and include early mornings.

Qualifications

• Healthcare kitchen experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret recipes.
• Basic math skills.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete tasks according to daily production sheets and recipes.
• Communicate missing items to supervisor to ensure 100% completion.
• Date, label items with date, use-by date, shelf life and initials.
• Clean work stations and manage cleaning buckets during shift.
• Operate kitchen equipment and apply HACCP guidelines.
• Record production numbers and HACCP data, including temps.
• Store food in safe containers.
