Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Food Service Worker to support the Dietary-Management team at RWJUH Rahway Hospital. You will assist with food prep, tray assembly, and meal delivery while ensuring HACCP and safety standards are met.

The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy in patient identification, and maintaining high sanitation and temperature controls in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Cooking experience required.
• Ability to follow HACCP standards and food safety procedures.
• Ability to read patient names and locations for tray delivery.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion desserts, soups, cereals, garnishes, and other items for the assembly line.
• Stock the assembly line with food and supplies from storage areas.
• Follow portion guidelines and use serving utensils for trays.
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain items within safe ranges.
• Store food properly and use FIFO procedures.
• Prepare desserts and designated items in advance for the next day.
• Operate and clean food service equipment (refrigerators, juice machines, mixers, etc.).
• Deliver meal trays to patient rooms and collect trays after service.
• Adhere to HACCP standards and sanitation procedures.
• Complete annual safety, physical, food service, and mandatory education.
