Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Egan Hospice, part of the Optum family, seeks a Per Diem Chaplain/Spiritual Caregiver to provide compassionate spiritual care to hospice patients and their families.

You will support diverse faith backgrounds, facilitate spiritual conversations, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and offer emotional comfort during crisis, with flexible per diem scheduling.

Qualifications

• 2+ units of Clinical Pastoral Education or Bachelor’s degree in theology, divinity, pastoral care, philosophy, religion or related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in a health care setting and/or related pastoral experience.
• Endorsement or acceptable language in accordance with the applicant's faith tradition.
• Good standing with their faith group with no ethical charges.
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide spiritual care to hospice patients and families across diverse beliefs.
• Lead or participate in spiritual conversations while respecting patient autonomy.
• Utilize a broad network of spiritual resources and refer to community leaders when appropriate.
• Collaborate within the Interdisciplinary Team and share insights in IDG meetings.
• Offer emotional support to hospice staff when needed.
