Job summary

VEG is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinarian to join our emergency team. You’ll handle a wide range of emergencies, including complex surgeries and exotics, in a fast-paced hospital setting with a strong mentorship culture and ongoing CE opportunities.

You’ll be part of a team that values learning, patient- and client-centered care, and flexible scheduling to fit your life while delivering exceptional care to both people and their pets.

Qualifications

• A DVM or equivalent degree is required.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery (soft tissue) and endoscopy.
• Thrive in team-oriented environments and collaborate effectively.
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours and lift up to 25 kg; support up to 40 kg with assistance.
• Willing to work in a noisy environment with strong odors.
• Available for nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
• Work well in a fast-paced setting with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients promptly as part of VEG triage.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Conduct physical exams and required diagnostics.
• Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
• Communicate diagnoses and options to customers.
• Prepare estimates for clients.
• Document medical records accurately.
• Explain tests and treatments to customers.
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries.
• Perform endoscopic procedures.
• Educate clients on aftercare and prevention.
