VEG in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinarian who thrives in a high‑volume ER. You’ll manage urgent cases, perform surgeries, and conduct endoscopy, while delivering compassionate care to pets and clear explanations to their families.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree.
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery and endoscopy.
• Thrives in team-oriented environments.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients right away as part of VEG Triage and VEG Spikes.
• Gather the signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam.
• Conduct physical examinations and required investigatory measures such as ultrasounds, X‑rays, bloodwork, and biopsies.
• Complete a diagnosis and create a diagnostic/therapeutic plan.
• Communicate diagnosis and treatment options with customers.
• Prepare estimates and present them to customers.
• Create and review medical records for accuracy.
• Demonstrate value of tests and treatments to customers.
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries.
• Perform endoscopic procedures.
• Educate customers on aftercare and preventive measures.
