Job summary

The University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Emergency Medicine team in a per diem capacity. The PA/NP will work with board-certified emergency physicians to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced ED.

Responsibilities include evaluating, diagnosing, and treating acute illnesses and injuries, performing procedures, and coordinating with the healthcare team.

Qualifications

• PA/NP must have completed an ARC-PA approved PA program or an accredited NP program.
• Current NCCPA or ANCC certification required.
• 3 years PA/NP experience in emergency medicine preferred; or 2 years plus completion of an approved post graduate emergency medicine training program.
• New graduates are not eligible for this position.

Responsibilities

• Conduct focused history taking and physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic testing, and perform necessary procedures within a fast-paced clinical environment
• Work closely with ED attendings in a collaborative care model, staffing all ESI levels 1,2, and 3s
• Ordering and calling appropriate consults to coordinate specialty emergency care, inclusive of calling hospitalists for admissions
• Ability to multitask by seeing and managing multiple active patients at a time
• Document HPIs, clinical findings, interpretation of labs and imaging, disposition and treatment plans accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system (EPIC)
