Job summary

VEG is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinarian to join our fast-paced, mentorship-focused team. You will handle a broad range of emergencies, including surgeries and endoscopy, while providing outstanding care to both pets and their families.

You'll work in a hospital culture that values continuous learning through VEG Education programs and on-the-floor guidance, with opportunities to grow your career within our nationwide ER network.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree required.
• Experience in emergency medicine and surgery preferred.
• Comfort with fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients right away as part of the VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, our unique, customer-centered approach.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam.
• Conduct physical exams and required diagnostics (ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, biopsies).
• Create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan after diagnosing the pet's condition.
• Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers.
• Prepare estimates and present them to customers.
• Create and review medical records for accuracy.
• Explain test and treatment value to customers.
