Job summary

VEG for Pets is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinarian to join our nationwide network of ER hospitals. You’ll handle urgent cases, including surgeries and exotic pets, while benefiting from a mentorship-driven culture and continuous learning programs.

This role emphasizes high-quality patient care and clear client communication. You’ll contribute to a fast-paced team, with opportunities to grow through VEG Education programs and unlimited ER-focused CE.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent required.
• Emergency medicine experience preferred.
• Nights, weekends, and holidays availability required.

Responsibilities

• Answer medical questions over the phone.
• See patients immediately as part of VEG triage.
• Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and exam.
• Perform physical exams, imaging, bloodwork, and biopsies.
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
• Communicate diagnoses and treatment options to clients.
• Prepare estimates and present to clients.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Explain test results and procedures to clients.
• Perform emergency surgeries and endoscopy as needed.
• Educate clients on aftercare and prevention.
