Job summary

MemorialCare Health System in Long Beach is seeking an EKG Technician on a per diem basis for the Long Beach Medical Center. The role performs electrocardiograms and related non-invasive cardiac procedures, coordinating tests to optimize patient comfort, safety and privacy.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Electrocardiography program, proficiency with EKG equipment and medical terminology, and BLS. Per diem days (8 hours) with a pay rate of $25.67 per hour.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Electrocardiography program is required.
• CCI and CET certifications are preferred.
• BLS certification is required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
• Proficiency with EKG equipment and related computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs electrocardiograms in standard and research formats.
• Ensures patient safety, comfort and privacy during procedures.
• Reviews medical records and educates patients prior to procedures.
• Reports abnormal findings promptly to the nurse per policy.
• Maintains accurate reports, logs, and charges; enters charges timely.
• Edits EKG reports and ensures delivery to caregivers and records requests.
• Maintains department equipment and supplies; stocks as needed.
• Provides coverage for holter monitor hookups and disconnects.
• Contributes to a positive team environment and adheres to AIDET.
• Participates in departmental safety checks and record-keeping.
