Job summary

MemorialCare Health System at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center is seeking an EKG Technician for per diem coverage. The position performs standard and research EKGs, schedules testing with the care team, and ensures high-quality recordings while protecting patient safety and privacy.

Qualifications

• Prior work experience in EKG and non-invasive cardiology is recommended.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
• Must demonstrate proficiency with EKG equipment and related computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs electrocardiograms in standard and research formats and obtains accurate recordings.
• Follows departmental policy to ensure patient safety, comfort, and privacy.
• Instructs patients and answers questions about procedures and findings.
• Identifies abnormal and critical findings and reports to the nurse promptly.
• Maintains complete reports, logs, and charges; enters charges timely.
• Edits EKG reports and ensures delivery to caregivers and records requests.
• Maintains equipment and supplies; notifies when stock is low.
• Provides coverage for holter monitor hook-ups and disconnects.
• Supports a no gossip environment and uses AIDET with patients and families.
