Job summary

The Echocardiographer (cardiac sonographer) at Pulse Heart Institute is responsible for obtaining high quality ultrasound recordings of the heart for cardiologist interpretation. This is a technical role requiring a skilled operator with knowledge of ultrasound procedures.

The position involves working with patients, families, and physicians in a clinical setting. It requires ARDMS/CCI certification or enrollment, BLS, and preferred prior echocardiography experience; 10 hour shifts with per diem

Qualifications

• Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or Cardiovascular Credentialing International; or must be currently enrolled or have completed an ultrasound technology training program and obtain ARDMS/CCI within 12 months from hire into the position.
• Previous Echocardiographer experience preferred.
• Current BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Performs echocardiographic studies on patients.
• Completes the echocardiography worksheet with quantitative calculations, measurements, and descriptive information acquired while performing the study on each patient.
• Performs clerical procedures, including scheduling, answering phones, filing, notification of interpreting cardiologists, preliminary report circulation, material stocking, databasing, and charging.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of ultrasound and other equipment.
• Knowledge of and thorough understanding of the physical principles of ultrasound and ultrasound systems.
• Knowledge of cardiac abnormalities to produce diagnostic echocardiograms.
• Skill in producing complete anatomic and functional information for the interpreting cardiologist.
