Job summary

The Opportunity Alliance is seeking a Per Diem Early Childhood Special Educator to support preschoolers with developmental delays across multiple classrooms in Greater Portland, Maine. The role involves specially designed instruction, visual supports, and collaboration with teachers to implement IEPs.

Responsibilities include direct instruction, progress monitoring, and family engagement, with a flexible schedule aligned to program needs.

Qualifications

  • Degree in early childhood education or related field with preschool teaching experience.
  • Maine state certification as Ed Tech II or III is required or held.
  • 1–2 years of experience with young children with delays or disabilities.
  • Knowledge of current special education practices and collaboration with teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct instruction and support to children with special needs in individual and group settings.
  • Monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with teaching team to create inclusive classrooms.
  • Support teachers with accommodations and modifications.
  • Develop and implement IEPs with parents, teachers, and professionals.
  • Participate in parent conferences and resource provision at home.
