Job summary

Devereux Massachusetts is seeking a Direct Support/Care Professional in Rutland, MA, to support youth with complex behavioral needs. The role emphasizes safety, compassionate intervention, and active engagement in teaching daily living skills.

The position offers a competitive hourly wage ($21.12–$24.58) with opportunities for education and experience growth within a nationwide nonprofit behavioral health network. A 2-week paid orientation is required for external candidates.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Active driver’s license is required.
• High School diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• MAPS certification, or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Previous experience with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders or related conditions is preferred.
• Willing to attend 2 week paid orientation (external candidates).

• Be responsible for the safety and security of all youth as assigned by providing direct supervision.
• Provide and ensure therapeutic interventions in a compassionate and safe environment.
• Engage with youth in a meaningful and positive manner, teaching and prompting appropriate behaviors, and providing positive reinforcement for the same.
• Teach and assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills.
• Possess adequate organizational and communication skills needed to complete required documentation, such as progress notes and incident reports.

The pay for this position starts at $21.12/hour, with additional compensation added for higher education and/or years of relevant experience up to $24.58/hour.

This position is located in Rutland, MA.

Devereux Massachusetts serves students with various complex psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder. As a Direct Support/Care Professional, you will:

• Be passionate about working with and helping youth.

• Be responsible for the safety and security of all youth as assigned by providing direct supervision.

• Provide and ensure therapeutic interventions in a compassionate and safe environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Previous experience preferred (not required) working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional and behavioral disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders.

• Must be MAPS certified, or able to obtain certification within 6 months of employment if going to a Group Home Setting

• Must be able to attend a 2 week paid orientation, which runs Monday-Friday, 8AM to 4PM for external candidates
