Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is seeking an ultrasound technologist for per diem coverage at Gouverneur Hospital in the Radiology department. The role performs ultrasound procedures under physician orders and uses independent judgment to obtain high‑quality exams, with supervision as appropriate.

Candidates must have graduate ultrasound training (CAAHEP) or equivalent, and will be expected to maintain equipment, train staff, and assist in patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program OR graduate of a 2-year allied health program with documented ultrasound experience.
• REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: If hired after 08/01/2025, registry with ARDMS/CCI/ARRT required; if not, must obtain within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist physician during ultrasound procedures and maintain patient safety.
• Label and process studies accurately for timely radiology reporting.
• Operate ultrasound equipment to acquire high-quality diagnostic images.
• Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
• Ensure ongoing operation of ultrasound equipment and report deficiencies.
• Maintain supplies and order items as needed and notify shortages.
• Assist in training student ultrasound technologists and supervise staff in the specialty area.
