Job summary

DirectShifts is seeking a Dental Assistant for a per diem role in Manhattan, NY. You will support dentists during procedures, prepare treatment rooms, and help ensure a safe, welcoming environment while educating patients on oral care.

Ideal candidates include graduates of an accredited DA program or those with at least 6 months of hands-on experience, ready to join a collaborative team and grow their dental career.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program OR a minimum of 6 months of hands-on Dental Assistant experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms and ensure all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized.
• Welcome, prepare, and assist patients before, during, and after dental procedures.
• Assist the dentist during examinations and treatments by passing instruments, suctioning, and mixing dental materials.
• Take and develop dental radiographs as permitted by certification.
• Fabricate temporary restorations and assist with removable dental appliances.
• Maintain accurate patient charts and clinical documentation.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, plaque control, and post-treatment care.
• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control guidelines to maintain a safe clinical environment.
• Maintain inventory, equipment, and supplies.
• Respond appropriately during medical or dental emergencies.
• Collaborate with the dental team to ensure an outstanding patient experience.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
