Job summary

Universal Health Services' Sierra Medical Center in Reno is seeking a Day Surgery RN per diem to provide direct and indirect patient care in the DSU and preoperative holding area. Communicates with physicians and nursing leadership about changes in clinical status; responds quickly to alteration in condition.

Ideal candidates hold Nevada RN licensure with ACLS/BLS certification; perioperative or day-surgery experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Nevada RN licensure is required.
• ACLS and BLS certifications required or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassess as per policy.
• Assess and manage pain, educate patient and family on pain management.
• Establish care plans as indicated by physician orders.
• Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; address psychosocial needs.
• Communicate changes in patient condition with physicians and team; participate in discharge planning.
