Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in cytotechnology registered as NYSED licensure qualifying upon graduation
• Accredited by the CAAHEP or certified by a certifying agency approved by HHS

Responsibilities

• Microscopically examine preparations for cytologic evaluation and render a final diagnosis on negative gynecologic slides and abnormal cases
• Follow the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintain records of tests
• Evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens and formulate primary and final diagnoses
• Examine slides thoroughly to assure visualization of all areas
• Assess adequacy of specimens and advise on discrepancies
• Formulate diagnoses using established terminology and compare with clinical data
